Do you think Node.jar (port of Node.js 0.8 to Java's Nashorn engine) will replace Node.js sometime?

Also, what's your take on Nashorn?

why would you want to do that? who wants java? also, 0.8 is two years old by now. i've always been thinking it to be wrong for jython to port old versions of python to java (their stable release is now at 2.5, a version i stopped using 2008 when cPython 2.6 came out). pypy show a similar lag (at least both projects have more recent versions as betas). looks like with all these ports users are destined to live with old versions.

Actually I don't want to switch to Nashorn, I like Node.js, just want to know about it!

I don't think it will replace node. I think it will allow dev shops that are entrenched in legacy Java to start using node for new development or where it makes sense.

Having access to Java libs could be important for apps that already have a rich data model using hibernate or some other Java ORM.

Actually that's news to me. Never heard about it before.
Have you tried it yourself? If so, what do you think?

I have not tried yet, but I think I will do it soon, and mayve write a post about it if something really calls my attention.
