Looking at the submissions of @Thaslim one may think that this  is another spam account…

It's the second spam account they create. I banned their company URL + their blogspot one but it seems it's not enough...

Would it possible and reasonable to ban most popular link shorteners (e.g. goo.gl, bit.ly, is.gd, etc.) too, since it is not permitted to use them in the first place?

Yes, I've been thinking about it, maybe even integrate it directly into Lamer News. People will always find ways to spam but if we can make their lives a bit harder, I think it's fair ;)

I’d love to contribute code to Lamer News, but I don’t Ruby know unfortunately.

Maybe this is my opportunity to learn it. At least how to use  hashmaps and conditionals. ;-)
